However, the reason why despite the outcomes — book writing will pay off — is because you will grow as a person.

Writing a blog post clarifies your thoughts. Writing a book forces you to take all in you and distill into anecdotes and ideas that people will find helpful. Or will move them.

Write for yourself. A blog post or a book. Decide if you want to go through the gruelling journey or self publish to your friends and family — your choice. But that output will change you enough that it is worth it.
