Why You Should Blog?
Transition From Diary
Diary is a personal thing which you had. It meant there was something where you can share how you feel. And sometimes cry about that. Things were terrible and sometimes they were happy. Despite the emotions — you felt you have to relive the day when it was ending. And diary was something that gave you this power.
You could write about how you did awesomely, the things which you need to improve or the ambitions which you had.
It was personal. And that’s why you didn’t want anyone to read it. But sometimes, over the years you would meet someone — close enough. That you won’t mind them reading your diary. Rather it was considered as a privilege for them and an act of emotion from your side.
In the same way, when someone tried to get to the diary without your permission — you felt cheated. Because you weren’t sure how those things will be perceived. Could you clarify something? Also, you don’t want many things to be public.
And now, times have changed. You are living in the age of the internet. Where you want to share everything online. That makes you vulnerable, happy and showcases your personality. You like the validation. You want to connect with other people. Only if there was a way to do that and in a way to have maximum impact.
There is such a thing. It’s called blogs. Consider it as a diary but it is on the web. If you want, you can make it private. Or public. You can write under your name or under some pseudonym. Regardless, this will help you. If you want to keep things private — writing online is the safest way as of now to keep things secure.
And if you want to share but write under a fake name then it’s alright. The web gives you power. Slowly, you will gain a few people who will want to follow you, like you and start interacting with you. At that point, you can decide to reveal your identity or keep it anonymous. But blogs give you so much option and so much power.
It’s not a new thing which you have to develop. You are already writing in a diary. Just do it online. And boom, you will have many perspectives.
Because you will discover other blogs which you can see, and take notes from. How they present things, see things and interact. You can connect, maybe form a group and do things in highest of magnitude.
If you have a way to express, you need to get a blog. It’s like the modern-day equivalent of speaking with friends. You can write online. And share your blog with friends or family.
And then they can interact. You can still keep writing private blogs. And only make few blogs public. This connection is magic. You can do so more when you have a blog.
You Get Clarity
Writing is a lonely activity. You sit down and you are with your thoughts. You pen down things and try to make sense of it. Sometimes you don’t want to write but you sit anyway and write something.
Because there is always something to write about. You might feel lazy but there is something. Also, you might not write every time something great. But that’s okay. Because that isn’t the intention. Slowly, you will churn out enough things that some of them will make sense to you.
You wrestle with thoughts all the time. And often you overthink. That’s human nature. When something goes bad, you overestimate on the consequences. But when you give some time, you often see that things turn out pretty okay.
Share Your Expertise
Business is a difficult thing. Because it takes so much to build one. And then you have less chance of succeeding.
Hence, either you require a huge savings account or family support. So, even if you fail there is a backup for you. Now, those things have gone online. You can build a business online. And often it has less friction than in the offline world. For example, the biggest thing which came from the internet was information products. Learning is always on-trend.
There are always people looking to upgrade their skills and make an impact. You can come along and provide that space.
At this point, you might think — what is that you might teach to the online world. And how does blogging come into all of this?
Here is a simple pathway. Everyone has something in them at which they are good at. Often, you might not know about that. The best way is to ask your friends and family. What is something which comes naturally to you? It can be anything. You might don’t think about it. But for others that can be a huge skill.
Maybe you are good at fashion, cooking vegetables, finding old things — it can be as obscure as possible. The magic is that you can find an audience for many things online. Sure, in your area there won’t be many people to buy your cooking skills. But online, around the globe — there will be enough people for you to teach what you know.
But how to go about it. The first step is to make a blog. Sharing your expertise. One by one you will build an audience of 1000 people who will follow you and share your knowledge forward. They will also comment and help you with any confusion.
Share everything you know. And then there will be people who want more. So, you can create an e-book — which could have everything in order or as a souvenir. So, your fans will buy that. Or you can create a course. Where you can teach as a video. Out of 1000 people, 100 might buy your course. And slowly, you can upgrade yourself and keep making products out of your expertise.
In all of these, remember the key is to have your blog and email connection to connect with your fans.
